WDBX Members Bash

Category: News

We had a late night Thursday night as we played the 9th Anual WDBX Members Bash at Hangar 9 in Carbondale, but we loved every minute.  The Bone Dry River Band opened the show for us and did a great job.  They have one of the best keyboard players I have seen in a long time.  His style reminds me alot of Jerry Lee Lewis, and that combined with a tight rhythm section and great vocals makes one hell of a band. Check them out.

We ended up not hitting the stage until after midnight because the event was delayed because of a Chicago Bears football game.  I’m sorry to all of you that like football, but I’m not into football at all anymore because people make it out to be such a big deal if they miss a game.  It’s not worth it in my opinion.  We played an hour and a half set containing some brand new originals off of our upcoming CD as well as some from Work Hard To Play The Blues along with the old blues classics we all know and love.  As far as my set up, I used my trusty Roland Cube 60 with my Black Widdow, and my new costom Fender Strat…..GREAT TONE!  We want to give special thanks to our friend Will Stevens for playing the music on The Electric Blues Hours.  He plays some great stuff, and there seems to always be something on there that I’ve never heard, but never anything I dislike.  It is the best blues show I’ve been able to find anywhere on the radio.  I love it!

We have finished laying the basic tracks for our second album entitled “Ain’t No Accident.”  The disc will include 9 original tracks and a cover of the Willie Dixon classic “Back Door Man.”  I decided to go towards a more rock sound, and it is working out very well.  We are shooting for a Fall 2009 release, so people get ready!  We are about to strike again!

Vulture Fest October 19th, 2008

Vulture Fest in Makanda was a great time.  Although the weather was cold, people Hung around all night with us and loved every minute.  We must have been doing something right because we got a standing ovation after the third song.  Special thanks to our good friend Jim Clark for coming and playing this gig with us.  He is one of the best guitar players I have ever played with, and just a heck of a guy to be around!  After the gig, I spoke with some blues fans inside the Rainmaker, and even hung around and played some solo accoustic stuff for them as well.  It was a great night indeed!
