About Joey

Born with Cerebral Palsy and confined to a wheelchair, Joey began playing guitar and writing songs at age three. His first stage appearance was with 70’s rock legend Edgar Winter at six, and after that he knew that music was what he wanted to do.   For the next 7 years, he played wherever he could, sitting in with all of the local bands he knew and loved..  It wasn’t until 2002, at age 13, he formed his first band Loose Wheels.  They spent 4 years playing benefits and various charity events.  At the end of 2006, Joey wanted to go back to where it all started for him……The Blues.  He formed The Joey Odum Blues Project in December of 2006 with drummer Mick “The Stick”, and bassist Mark Moreno, and since then the trio has played a great deal of clubs, festivals, and charity work.  In early 2007, Joey and the band went into the studio to produce their first record, “Work Hard To Play The Blues.”  Released in the Summer of 2008, the album showcases Joey’s crisp, clean guitar style and smooth soulful vocals, and as you hear it, you will be able to feel his emotions come out of him as he plays traditional blues straight from the heart.
